Effective Management Communication
This course is designed to help students develop effective management communication and presentation skills. It offers a practical and analytical approach to the development of content and style in management communication with an emphasis on the relationship between creative, independent and logical thinking and the solution of business problems. The focus will be on enhancing the ability of students to demonstrate such thinking through effective written and oral communication, complemented by the development and refinement of appropriate presentation skills.
Success in the world of work depends to a large extent on the ability to communicate. The course aims at helping students develop their listening, speaking and writing skills for a variety of workplace situations and business purposes. Activities center on planning, organising, composing, and revising business messages with sensitivity to verbal and non-verbal cues. Documents developed both in class and as home assignments include; occupational writing for correspondence, letters, memos, e-mail, reports and proposals. Participants will also enhance their skills in public speaking and other forms of oral presentations with a view to conveying business messages using clear, concise communication methods.
The exercises that students will be exposed to are relevant to most administrative, supervisory and managerial positions.
